CLUB HISTORY

One hundred and fifteen years after the driving of the golden spike at Promontory Summit, Utah, the Sun City West Model RR Club was chartered.  On November 2, 1984 with 26 members, the club started in a 20 x 40 foot Del Webb construction shed referred to as “The Tin Shed.”  The shed lacked both heating and cooling and featured lots of dust plus assorted bugs.  Temporary HO and N-scale layouts were constructed.

The club moved to their present location at the R. H. Johnson Recreation Center in 1990.  A new and larger HO layout was 90% complete by January 1991.  An N-scale layout was also nearly complete.

Many new features and upgrades have been added since that dusty beginning.  Come in and see what that early railroad has evolved into.
